AI & Data Governance Lead / Insurance - $1.5-1.7M

Location: Hong Kong

A leading insurer is seeking an experienced AI & Data Governance Lead to shape its approach to responsible AI, data governance and enterprise-wide adoption of emerging technologies.

This is a senior thought-leadership position requiring someone who can define a compelling governance vision while engaging business, technology, risk and executive stakeholders. The organisation is open to candidates from outside financial services where they bring exceptional governance experience, fresh thinking and the ability to influence at senior levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve enterprise frameworks for AI governance, responsible AI and data governance.
  • Establish practical policies, controls and decision-making processes that enable innovation while managing risk.
  • Advise leadership on emerging AI risks, regulatory expectations and industry developments.
  • Partner with technology, data, legal, privacy, compliance, risk and business teams to embed governance into the AI lifecycle.
  • Develop governance approaches covering areas such as model risk, data quality, privacy, explainability, bias, third-party AI and human oversight.
  • Chair or support senior governance forums and clearly communicate complex topics to executive stakeholders.
  • Build awareness and adoption through training, guidance, thought leadership and stakeholder engagement.
  • Represent the organisation in relevant industry, regulatory and external discussions.

Requirements

  • Significant experience across AI governance, data governance, privacy, responsible technology, digital risk or related disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of AI-related regulatory, ethical and risk considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design governance frameworks that are practical, commercially aware and supportive of innovation.
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with an engaging and credible leadership style.
  • Financial services experience is preferred, particularly within insurance, banking or another regulated environment.
  • Outstanding candidates from technology, digital platforms, consulting or other industries will also be considered.
  • Experience operating across regional or global organisations would be highly valuable.
  • Strong English communication skills; Cantonese or Mandarin would be beneficia
