Overview
The Director of IT Vendor Management is responsible for leading the end‑to‑end lifecycle of technology vendor relationships, IT contracts, and managed service providers. This role ensures that vendors deliver high‑quality services aligned with business objectives, while maintaining strong governance, cost control, and strategic partnership. The Director will act as an influential leader across IT and business teams, driving service excellence and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and lead the enterprise-wide vendor management strategy covering sourcing, evaluation, onboarding, performance management, and exit planning.
• Manage the full lifecycle of IT contracts, including negotiation, renewals, SLAs, pricing structures, compliance obligations, and risk mitigation.
• Oversee relationships with key technology vendors, SaaS providers, and managed service partners to ensure service quality, delivery performance, and continuous improvement.
• Lead IT service management governance, including service reviews, incident management oversight, SLA/OLA tracking, and operational reporting.
• Drive vendor performance scorecards, quarterly business reviews, and structured escalation processes.
• Collaborate with procurement, legal, finance, cybersecurity, and IT operations to ensure alignment and adherence to enterprise policies.
• Optimize cost efficiency through contract consolidation, strategic sourcing, and value‑driven vendor engagement.
• Ensure vendors meet regulatory, security, and compliance requirements (e.g., data protection, audit controls, service continuity).
• Act as a senior leader who partners closely with IT executives to support technology roadmap planning and external partner strategy.
• Build and mentor a high-performing vendor management team, fostering a culture of accountability and service excellence.
Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of experience in IT vendor management, IT service management, or technology procurement roles
• Strong experience managing large-scale IT contracts, outsourcing agreements, and managed service providers.
• Deep understanding of IT service management (e.g., ITIL), service delivery processes, performance metrics, and operational governance.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and drive commercial value.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience influencing senior leaders and external partners.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret vendor performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
• Knowledge of risk management, regulatory requirements, and compliance in the technology environment.
• Highly collaborative, strategic thinker with strong communication and leadership capabilities.
