Front Office Developer / Volatility & Options / $60-75k P/M / 12 month extendable contract
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Front Office Java Developer with strong knowledge of volatility modelling and equity options
to join a fast-paced trading environment. The role sits close to the desk and plays a critical part in the development of market data calibration, volatility marking, and pricing tools
used daily by Sales, Trading, Strats, and Financial Engineering teams.
This is a hands-on position offering direct exposure to live markets, complex derivatives, and real-time trading workflows.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain market data calibration and marking tools and processes
for equity derivatives.
- Lead development focused on volatility marking:
- Implied volatility extraction from listed options prices.
- Event-driven volatility adjustments (earnings, dividends, macro events).
- Volatility surface construction, interpolation, and smoothing.
- Build and enhance real-time pricing, risk, and P&L support tools
for the trading desk.
- Work closely with Sales, Traders, Quantitative Strats, IT, and Financial Engineering
teams to streamline:
- Pricing workflows
- Trade booking
- Market data distribution
- Support production systems, diagnose pricing or market data issues, and deliver rapid fixes in a front-office environment.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and code quality standards for front-office libraries.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar.
- 2–5+ years of experience in a Front Office environment
supporting trading, strats, or pricing platforms.
- Strong knowledge of equity derivatives, particularly:
- Vanilla and exotic options
- Volatility surfaces
- Implied vs local volatility
- Strong programming skills in Java(C++ highly desirable), applied within:
- Front office libraries
- Pricing engines
- Market data platforms
- Solid understanding of:
- Options pricing models (Black-Scholes, Greeks, smile/skew dynamics)
- Market data handling and real-time systems
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-moving, team-oriented trading environment.
